La Cuna

Dear La Cuna Friend:

We are contacting you to provide an update on La Cuna. As you know, La Cuna became a subsidiary of the Chicano Federation in 2010. Due to the re-incorporation process and state and county requirements, La Cuna was relicensed and is currently in the process of obtaining a new placement contract with the County of San Diego, HHSA Child Welfare Services. Obtaining a new contract is necessary for all county foster family agencies. La Cuna anticipates the process to be completed by mid to late 2012. Until then, La Cuna cannot place foster children in homes, but our work to fulfill the mission of providing loving homes for Latino foster babies and toddlers continues.

Currently we have over 125 willing potential foster parents who have passed pre-screening and they are patiently waiting to attend an orientation. We also continue with our development work and fundraising efforts for this one of a kind program. In the fall of 2012, Chicano Federation will once again host "The Magic of Children" an event that will benefit La Cuna and Chicano Federation's other children's programs.
